J'adore Paris!

Posted 7/11/2009 7:17:00 PM
Bonjour! We managed to make it to Paris without too many incidents on the bus. At least by now everyone has learned the importance of double bagging. Contiki should include like a card showing the proper steps to follow in a bus puking emergency. Like they have for airplane safety cards.

Paris is the best. I've had the privilege of being here twice before but there's always something new to see. Last night when we got into town we headed straight to the Eiffel Tower and got some magical night time views of this historic city. At night they light up thousands of strobes on the outside of the tower and it looks like it's twinkling.

Having the advantage of being stuck in French Immersion growing up, we headed out early to get as much in as possible. We started at the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and the ...

I need more cowbells!

Switzerland is amazing!! The Mountains make me miss home but in a good way. We took a gondola (not to be mistaken for the ones in Venice) up to the top of Mount Stanserhorn for a beautiful view of the town below.

What was even more amazing than the view to me were the cows. Not only do they really all wear cowbells, they are grazing up and down the side of a mountain! Puts our lazy cows to shame. You can hear the bells at the top if the mountain almost 2000 meters above the valley.
Oh and no joke there was a dude up top with one of those huge horns from the Ricola commercial. He was letting people play it but I didn't want to pass on this apparent swine flu I've picked up along the way.

We all headed back down and after we checked in ...

Venice Bitches!

Buon Giorno!!!
Katie here on my Contiki adventure in Venice!!
We got to stop on our way here in Austria to sample a huge selection of
Schnapps, well those who could stomach it after last night. We also
got introduced to the Dutch Version of Barbie Girl. Wonder if it's
available on iTunes? I doubt it somehow.

It's beautiful here in Venice. It's like nothing I've ever seen
before. I know this will sound very cliche but it's totally like a
scene from a movie. There are Venetian masks and murano glass in every
shop window down a maze of little alleys.

We got to watch a demonstration of glass blowing which in this heat
didn't seem as fun as it could have been. The heat is so distracting!
Well at least I'm sweating out all that beer from Munich! We also got
to learn about the lost art of ...

Munich Beer Hall of Fun!

Posted 7/5/2009 3:07:00 PM
Guten tag Vancouver! We are in our way into Italy after our huge night out in Munich. I've never had a cheaper or fresher beer in my life! A litre stein was only 7 euro, so you can imagine we each had a few. To accompany or giant beers we all partook in a schweinhaxen (or pork knuckle). It was so tender and delicious but I will say that it could have used a little bacon.

After everyone was done eating, things began to get a little crazy.
Considering everyone was at least two litres in I guess it could have been worse but it was beginning to turn into a competition between the Aussies and the Canadians for who could drink the most steins. The next thing I know we are all being escorted out the door by three large Germans.

The night continued on at a weird German ...

Greetings from Amsterdam!

Happy belated Canada Day to everyone back home! Sure hope yours was as amazing as ours here in Amsterdam on our Contiki adventure, but I doubt it!

The last couple days have been a whirlwind but an absolute blast.
Yesterday we went on a canal ride through town that included an open bar before heading out into the city for a night of...um taking in the sights? Some of us headed off to a live sex show while others took the time to discover what else the red light district had to offer. Maybe the open bar beforehand wasn't the best of ideas but it made for a crazy evening!

I'm going to send a picture of the front of the show theater that I was very sly about taking as photos are not really appreciated or allowed in the red light district. You can't see in the picture but ...
