Fall Out Boy has become the latest band
to play out their internal strife in public, with various members of the group
either hinting or saying outright that they're finished. Following a blog post
by bassist Pete Wentz in which he expressed uncertainty about the band's
future and his role in it, Spin.com published an exclusive interview with
frontman Patrick Stump in which Stump said, "I'm not in Fall Out Boy
right now." Stump added, "Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do,
it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right
reasons."
- Fall Out Boy has been on hiatus since late last
year, with Stump, guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley
all announcing other projects. Stump told Spin he doesn't want "anything
to get in the way" of his debut solo album.
- Wentz tweeted earlier this week, "A hiatus is
forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either . . . I can't
imagine playing in FOB again."
- After Stump's comments to Spin went
online, Hurley posted on Twitter that he was quitting the band, only to write
later, "I didn't really quit, by the way. Everything is being blown way out of
proportion." But he added in a subsequent post, "I don't have any light to shed.
I don't know what's going to happen."
- Trohman chimed in as well, taking a
thinly-disguised stab at Stump by writing, "I just did interviews with Span
Magazine, Rabbling Stone and Blunder about how much quitting I done." He later
pointed to Hurley's comments, calling them "how I feel about the current worries
concerning FOB."
- It finally came full circle to Wentz, who on
Wednesday morning (February 3rd) posted an old photo of the band on tour in
happier times and wrote, "I miss truck stops and sneaking nachos."
