Mudvayne has gone quiet since the December release of the
band's fifth album, with singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg
Tribbett already recording the second Hellyeah CD and drummer Matt
McDonough promoting his electronic music label, Atmoworks.com. We
asked McDonough on Wednesday (February 3rd) what this all meant for Mudvayne's
future: ["I think with any artist it's important to have moments to
decompress, to kind of self-reflect. We're kind of reacting to this whirlwind of
activity that we've done for years, and now we're kind of letting the dust
settle on the rubble and just giving ourselves time to breathe, and to kind of
come back after reflecting and deciding what we're gonna do."] SOUNDCUE (:20
OC: . . . we're gonna do.)
- Mudvayne is not touring behind its latest album, a self-titled set
that features the single "Scream With Me."
- The
record debuted weakly on the Billboard album chart, entering at Number 50
and selling just 34,000 copies in its first week on shelves.
- Mudvayne singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett are now busy
working with Hellyeah, with that band's drummer Vinnie Paul saying in a
recent interview that they plan to tour for "18 months."
- McDonough and business partner John Strate-Hootman have
opened their own online music store called AtmoWorks.com. The site will
release material from independent musicians that focus mainly on ambient music.
McDonough himself is putting music out through the site under the name
MjDawn.
