Goyte's song, "Somebody That I Used To Know" is number two on the Modern Rock chart and the video has received over 70 million views on YouTube. So who's the unlucky lady who turned down the offer to sing with Gotye on his breakthrough hit? The world may never know. Goyte told Canoe, that she cancelled the night before they were supposed to record.
He said, "There was a vocalist who was quite high profile in Australia who was all set to do it and then cancelled the night before we were going to do the vocal session. In fact, we met at a festival months later and she was just like, 'Maybe that was a mistake.' "
- Goyte ended up recording the song with New Zealand newcomer Kimbra.
- Kimbra will be on the road with Goyte as his opening act.
- Gotye's third solo album, Making Mirrors, debuted at No. 5 on Canadian album charts.
