Tool drummer Danny Carey had some good and bad news for fans of the band when Metal Insider cornered him at a School Of Rock event last week in west Los Angeles. Carey was at the School Of Rock to jam with some of the organization's students, playing a selection of his own band's songs as well as some Led Zeppelincovers. When asked about Tool's current status, he said that the band had not really started recording yet, but "have the framework of at least five good songs."
- Carey added that the quartet hopes to get the album completed by the end of the year, although he previously stated that he expected the group to be recording by June or July.
- It's been six years since Tool last released an album, 2006's 10,000 Days.
- While Tool has kept a relatively low profile, only doing a few tours during that six-year stretch, singer Maynard James Keenan has stayed busy recording and touring with Puscifer and A Perfect Circle.
- Tool and Puscifer are both slated to perform at a new event called The River's Edge Music Festival, which will take place on June 23rd and 24th at Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minnesota.
