Even with the Super Bowl going on at the same time, a crowd of more than 10,000 packed the Abbotsford Exhibition Park to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic flame.

A high-energy community celebration capped off day 101 of the Olympic Torch Relay.

Among the dignitaries taking part -- Premier Gordon Campbell, "Our 206 Canadian athletes are going to be lifted up by our voices... are going to be lifted up by the spirit of Abbotsford... are going to be lifted up by sportsmanship... and for the first time in history, win gold medals in Canada!"

Campbell was joined by Abbotsford-area MLAs Mike De Jong, Randy Hawes and John Van Dongen -- as well as Abbotsford Mayor George Peary.

Longtime Abbotsford Royals track coach Gerry Swan had the honour of lighting the community cauldron.

The flame will make its way through the Lower Mainland from Mission to Horseshoe Bay with dozens of stops in between, before arriving at BC Place Stadium on Friday night.
