Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Alain Vigneault has announced that Cory Schneider will start Game Three versus the Los Angeles Kings.
The 26 year old Schneider will be making just the 2nd post season start of his NHL career. This season, the product of Marblehead, MA, had a career high of 20 wins on the season. Schneider also was 3rd best in the NHL with a 1.96 GAA and 2nd best in the NHL with a save percentage of .937.
Of his previous five NHL playoff appearances, only one of those has been a start. Schneider started Game Six of last year’s first round playoff series versus the Chicago Black Hawks. Schneider allowed three goals on 20 shots; he left the game in the third period after suffering cramps during a failed attempt to stop a penalty shot from Michael Frolik.
Dale Weise will also be inserted into the lineup for Vancouver. He will replace Andrew Ebbett on the fourth line.
